Would you feel more remorseful if you killed a cat as compared to killing an ant?
Why do people value the lives of some animals more than other animals? Isn’t a life a life? Is the life of a chicken less valuable to a chicken than the life of a rhinoceros to a rhinoceros? Is stepping on an ant so different from beheading a dog? Who are we to dictate which animal’s life is more valuable? Why do we find it alright to eat pigs when we find it absolutely horrifying that some people eat seals? The argument is that it is for survival, but if so, isn’t eating seals for survival too? Why is it so much worse a crime to kill a human being or some protected species, as opposed to killing insects and rats? They are all animals, they all feel, they all have the right to live. How can we measure how much a life is worth based on our own likes and preferences and misguided beliefs? Life is so unfair. By right, any life should be equal, and the severity of taking away any life should be the same. But in real life, this is not so. Why?
